"Overview of All the Available Records for The Five Civilized Tribes"

with
Jason Felihkatubbe

Thursday,
May 22, 2025

6:00pm CST
via
Zoom!

Jason, who is Choctaw, will delve into the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muscogee (Creek), and Seminole tribes in Indian Territory. He will examine various records beyond the Dawes Enrollment Records, including newspapers, school records, and more. You will gain insight into the contents of these records, learn where to view them, and how to obtain a copy. The session will conclude with a brief discussion of the benefits and limitations of genetic testing with Native Americans.

Jason has been doing genealogical research for nearly 30 years and his focus is Native American Indian genealogy, with an emphasis on the southeastern peoples–Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Muscogee, and Seminole in Indian Territory/Oklahoma. Apart from research, he offers lectures and classes on Native American Indian genealogy and culture. He is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and the Genealogical Speakers Guild. He is editor of the ArkValley Crossroads and The Register.  He has been involved with the USGenWeb Project for over 16 years
